A new name for The Cathedral Companions
At the Companions’ Annual General Meeting on 20 July 2025 the motion was passed to change our name to The Friends of Wellington Cathedral. We hope and pray that His Majesty King Charles III will agree to continue to be our Patron.
Our committee is now working on a redesign and new content for this website page but it is anticipated that our aims will be broadly the same, ie:
Who are we?
We’re people who:
Love the Cathedral for its history, role in the diocese and place in the capital city.
Support the Cathedral’s ministry and outreach.
Cherish the Cathedral’s style of worship, music, sacred art and fabric.
Have an interest in the life of the Cathedral and its parishioners.
Welcome members from any faith (or none), from all cultural backgrounds and of all ages.
And we’ll remain
A fellowship which has grown out of a mutual love and respect for the Cathedral and its ministry.
People from all walks of life and from other churches and cities in New Zealand and overseas.
People who are willing to pray for the Church’s ministry.
People who enjoy good company, good music of all kinds, fellowship, enlightenment and keeping in touch with Cathedral events.
