ANGELS
As you go through the doors into the Nave (main part of the church) you will see these big glass Angels. They were engraved over 50 years ago by New Zealander John Hutton who had become world famous for this sort of art work.
Why are angels always seen in Christmas art? The Bible tells the story of the Angel Gabriel telling Mary that she is having a baby. This was good news, as Palestine was having a hard time under Roman rule, and Gabriel said that the baby when grown up, would be a saviour of the world. Other stories talk about a choir of angels singing with great joy.
