Ash Wednesday: Said Eucharist

Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return. Turn away from sin and be faithful to Christ.

During the service ashes, made from last year’s palm crosses, are blessed and used to make the sign of the cross on our foreheads. This is an ancient sign, speaking of the frailty and uncertainty of human life, and that we mean to prepare ourselves with penitence for Easter.

Come and start Lent with our Ash Wednesday services:

7.30am: Eucharist with imposition of ashes - Lady Chapel

12.15pm: Eucharist with imposition of ashes - Lady Chapel

6pm: Combined service with the choir, congregation and clergy of the Metropolitan Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, held at the Wellington Cathedral of St Paul
