Book of Remembrance and prayer station

We have set up a Book of Remembrance in the cathedral for people to offer prayers and condolences for those who have suffered as a result of the tragic events in Christchurch on Friday. There will also be an interactive prayer station in the Narthex.

Our Director of Music is working to bring together a choir to perform “The Armed Man” -  Karl Jenkins setting of the Mass, which incorporates a Muslim call to prayer and has the call for peace. It is hoped it will be performed as a free concert next Friday evening, as an act of Remembrance. Please do remember all who have suffered and mourn the loss of loved ones in your prayers.

O merciful God, creator, redeemer, and giver of life. We remember those whose lives have been taken in the Christchurch attacks. Surround those who mourn with your love and healing; and grant grace to all peoples that we may live in peace in Aotearoa, New Zealand. Amen
