This Sunday we offer our prayers and support as Cathedral whanau to Shelly, Emily, James, Matthew and Liam as they are confirmed by Bishop Eleanor.
In our readings on Sunday morning we hear the words of Jesus, who calls Christians and calms storms, to have faith and not to fear. And we read Paul's encouragement to the Corinthians to keep going, as he had done, through thick and thin. He urges them to trust in God's grace, and to open wide their hearts to Christ. There are not many better passages for Confirmation Sunday.
And they set us up nicely for the Sundays ahead - 1 July, when our former Canon in Residence here and emeritus Dean of Nelson, the Very Revd Charles Tyrrell, QSO, will visit with his wife Elaine to celebrate his 40 years ordained as a priest in God's Church. The week after we will welcome the Revd Lance Lukin, Mission to Seafarers regional chaplain as we mark Sea Sunday, and on 15 July Neville Bartley of Scripture Union will be here to preach on Bible Sunday.
The following Sunday, 22 July, at 5pm, we welcome David and Pixie Rowe to this community and our capital city at his installation as the 8th Dean of Wellington, and Pixie's licensing for ministry in our parish.
Don't miss out! We look forward to enjoying some winter warmth of fellowship and inspiration as we worship together in the weeks ahead.
