Situated in the parliamentary precinct, the Wellington Cathedral of St Paul is an ideal place to host your concert, meeting or conference. We are strongly committed to providing facilities for the community to use – whether it be for meetings, regular recreational groups, workshops or concerts. We have a number of facilities available to suit your needs that cater for both large and small events.

Concerts, exhibitions and large events

Cathedral Nave

The Cathedral Nave is a vast but welcoming space, capable of seating over 800 people. 

It is an ideal space for choral music, and the cathedral’s fine organ and Steinway grand piano are available for use. This venue is also often used for large public conferences and art / photography displays.

The Brian Davis Room, Dean’s Vestry are also available for use as additional spaces for artists before and during the performance.

The Loaves and Fishes

The Loaves and Fishes hall accommodates 100 seating or 150 standing. Complimentary WiFi is available, as is a projector, screen, and whiteboard. Kitchen facilities are available at a small extra fee.

This room is most commonly used for large meetings, conferences, quiz evenings, and dance groups.

The Lady Chapel

The beautiful wooden Lady Chapel is an ideal space for smaller recitals and poetry presentations.

The Brian Davis Room

Brian Davis Room

The Brian Davis room holds 30 people, and has a small kitchen area for tea / coffee, along with crockery and cutlery. Complementary WiFi is available, as is a large screen TV. There is also easy access to the Cathedral’s beautiful courtyard garden.

This room is most commonly used for meetings, yoga groups, and educational groups.

FAQ

+ How do I make a booking?

Click 'submit a venue hire enquiry' at the top of this page if you would like to hire the Brian Davis Room or Loaves and Fishes Hall. To book the Cathedral or Lady Chapel please email us - events@wellingtoncathedral.org.nz.

+ What is available in each room?

Both the Loaves and Fishes Hall and Brian Davis Room have tables, chairs, free WiFi and basic kitchen facilities.

+ Do you provide tea and coffee?

Coffee plungers and tea pots are available in both rooms, but we do ask that you bring your own tea, coffee and milk.

+ Do you provide catering services?

We do not offer catering services, but you are welcome to use any caterer of your choosing. We would be happy to provide recommendations if required.

+ Does the Cathedral hold a liquor license?

We do not hold a liquor license, so if you are planning to serve alcohol at the event you will need to arrange this yourself. We are happy to provide the information needed to support your application.

+ Will you set up the room for us?

Typically we do not set up the room for you as we do not have the resources to do this. In some circumstances we may be able to do this for you, so please enquire when you make your booking.

+ When will I be invoiced?

We issue invoices on a monthly basis only, and will normally invoice at the end of the calendar month your booking has taken place. In some circumstances we may be able to invoice earlier, but please enquire prior to booking.

+ How do I access the WiFi?

The details are posted just inside the door in the Loaves and Fishes and Brian Davis Room.

+ Do you have audio/visual facilities?

The Loaves and Fishes Hall has a screen and projector and a portable sound system (with wireless microphone and Bluetooth connectivity), and the Brian Davis Room has a fixed television for use. Please bring your own HDMI cable to connect to the projector or television.
