God’s Church
Pray for Bishop Tom & Dwyllis as they prepare for retirement; for a Farewell that does justice to Bishop Tom’s ministry as Assistant & Diocesan Bishop.
Pray for the people of Carterton, for Jenny Chalmers, the Vicar; for on-going pastoring in the wake of the balloon accident; for the Parish of St.Peter’s, Willis Street, with the appointment of Brian Dawson as their new Vicar; for Bishop Richard Randerson’s ministry during the interregnum. Pray for the AAW Service at the Cathedral on Sunday; for activities in relation to the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee; Companions Garden Party.
Pray for the up-coming Electoral Synod; for Candidates & Sponsors; for Bishop Richard Ellena, Archbishop’s Commissary.
God’s World
For Syria; an end to the crisis, the use of snipers to kill demonstrators; for the Arab League and the UN as they seek to engineer a peaceful end to the Assad Regime.
For the International Atomic Energy Agency inspecting Iran’s nuclear development programme; for Herman Nackaerts, Chief Inspector; that a resolution to the crisis of Iran’s possible desire to manufacture nuclear weapons will be found.
Our Country
For all those attending Waitangi Day Celebrations on 6th February; that in awareness of our history and changing demographics in the present, we will take another step on the way to a shared sense of nationhood.
For Air New Zealand with the resignation of CEO Rob Fyfe, that a worthy successor will be found; for the Reserve Bank looking for a new Governor to succeed Alan Bollard.
Our Community
For Paula Bennett, Minister of Social Development, as she works to address the problem of Child Abuse; for Children, Youth & Families and all who seek to educate people as parents and care for children and babies at risk.
For Schools throughout the Diocese beginning a new year; for staff and students; and especially schools in Christchurch uncertain as to what their roll will be in 2012.
Sick, Suffering, Departed
For the families of the Pike River Miners with the indefinite postponement of the recovery of the bodies.
