A Traveller's Prayer
From Wellington Cathedral of St Paul
'A group of pilgrims from across the Diocese of Wellington are travelling to Oberammergau, Greece and Turkey in late May and early June. This prayer was written by one of them for them.'
As I travel, Lord give me the discernment to relish each stage of my passage. May my memories record nothing but blessings, both given and received.
If the path I wander seems unknown, Lord show me you have been there before.
Should my loved ones seem far away, remind me of their love.
When the way seems steep and strange, Lord, please walk beside me, and take my hand in yours if the lonely path grows long.
On the days when the sun shines and all is well, let thanks bubble up in me as we dance the road together.
Lord, may my steps be light and leave no bitter trace.
Let me be receptive to those whose paths cross mine, encouraging any I may meet who are lost and faithful to my companions.
And Father, may my destination be always one step closer to you.
Amen
